introducing mr and mrs sandgren! || Mount Hope Farm Bristol Rhode Island Wedding
Over Memorial Day Weekend, I had the honor of photographing Alex and Erik's Mount Hope wedding in Bristol, Rhode Island. This was another wedding where we all had our fingers and toes crossed for any weather except rain. Predictions were not favorable, but yet again, the skies opened up and the sun shone brightly all day long. The girls started their day at New Leaf Hair Studio in Bristol, where the bride and her maids donned their adorable Plum Pretty Sugar robes while getting ready. Mimosas were poured, and hair and makeup began! Following hair and makeup time, the girls made their way back to the house to get into their dresses. And this. house. was. incredible. The back doors opened up right onto a raised porch looking out on the water. The view was to die for. From the very beginning when they signed on, Alex and Erik knew they wanted to do a first look - and what better way than with their closest friends watching it all go down! Finally, last touches in place, the bridal party got ready to head over to the incredible Mount Hope Farm, where the ceremony would take place. An old estate, known to have housed generals and rumored to have been a retreat for President George Washington himself, the historic beauty is certainly not lost. Open fields, a farm, a large barn and a bed and breakfast, this place stole my heart right away. Before the ceremony, the bridal party jumped right into their portraits. The gardens were stunning, and I just knew we had to take advantage of such a wonderful space! It was a blast, and this goofy bunch just made it all the more fun. In an informal ceremony, guests gathered around to stand and watch as vows were exchanged in the garden. Happiness was not in short supply on this day! Following cocktail hour, there was an "Oyster Bake Reveal" hosted by the Mount Hope Farm team. It was definitely a unique experience, and one that I'm sure every New Englander would enjoy! Nothing will make you more hungry than pulling back those canvas layers and smelling baking oysters, brown bread, clams and lobster! Guests headed into the barn for the reception, where dinner was served and the party commenced! It was an incredible wedding and I am so thankful that I got to be a part of creating their memories. Congratulations Alex and Erik! Here's to many happy years ahead!
